Responsible Beverage Server Training (RBS)

Responsible Beverage Server (RBS) training is a two-hour training course designed for any “employee” working in an establishment that sells or serves alcohol.

There is a $15 fee for this course. You must pre-register on Eventbrite.

The food code requires that business owners/license holders of an establishment that provide on-site consumption of beverages containing alcohol, and any “employee” who handles, mixes, serves, sells or is involved in the transaction of alcohol have their RBS certification. These employees will be required to show proof of certification, while on duty if requested.
Trainers will review North Dakota state laws and local ordinances regarding the sale and consumption of alcohol and your responsibilities and liabilities as a server and owner. Training covers information that will help keep the public safe from alcohol-related harm, while keeping the business and server safe from legal liability.
Some of the topics covered include:
Civil Liability
Laws Pertaining to Intoxicated Persons
Laws Pertaining to Minors
Laws Concerning Proper ID and Carding Procedures
Physiological Effects of Alcohol
Identifying Intoxicated Persons
Detection of Minors
Intervention with Minors and Intoxicated Subjects
